There's Magic in the Night - Jasper National Park, Alberta, CA Trips to Jasper always feel like they end too soon and this was no exception. The Dark Sky Festival was easily one of my favorites and then to cap off the trip with an amazing display from the Northern lights certainly made it a trip to remember. I went from being a bit cold (about 20-24 degrees which is cold after you've adjusted to life in San Diego) to running around and trying to get all of my cameras pointed in the right direction. I definitely almost fell on the ice at least once, but it was all worth it. Such a privilege to have a totally relaxed female polar bear nursing her cubs right in front of me near the Nordenskiöld glacier, Svalbard. This female expressed particularly gentle behaviour while nursing and stretching her head back while softly groaning as if she really enjoyed the moment. Female polar bears nurse their cubs for approximately two years. In the first months, their milk is really rich in protein and comprised of over 30% fat content. The fat content decline over time as the cubs grow. I took this photograph after the family had devoured a bearded seal. After a good meal some well deserved time to relax. One cub was already fast asleep. The most common peaceful tactile gestures, among lions, are social licking and head rubbing which, fir example, can be compared with grooming in primates. Social licking often occurs in tandem with head rubbing; it is generally mutual and the recipient appears to express pleasure. The head and neck are the most common parts of the body licked, which may have arisen out of utility, as a lion cannot lick these areas individually. Head rubbing – nuzzling one's forehead, nose and neck against another lion, is a form of greeting,l as it is seen often after an animal has been apart from others, or after a fight or confrontation. Visit places like Saksun makes you rethink your lifestyle. At the end of a winding road through a valley you get to this small town in front of a lake. Only two families live here, and I had the pleasure of sharing a long conversation on the road with the mother of one of the farmers of the village. Very inspiring how the people of these islands talks about his way of life, their customs and their love for the landscape and the simple things. This place opened my eyes in many ways.

AOV x @briannguyen My most recent trip was Iceland, the first stop of a month long euro trip with @oliviasylves. I almost didn’t go on this trip, but things kinda fell into place last minute. Funny how things work out sometimes. I had two things I wanted: lots of drone footage (which was posted on here just a few days ago) and northern lights. We kept our eyes on the forecasts every day, and we lucked out by getting clear skies after a few days of bad weather. Now, the few other times I’ve seen northern lights, but I could really only see it with the camera. This time, it was so visible the entire sky was green and the lights were dancing rapidly. One of the most memorably nights I’ve ever had shooting, or just witnessed overall. #artofvisuals #aov #bevisuallyinspired

@mattsegal blows centuries of dust from an ancient Bon manuscript in Upper Mustang, Nepal. Our interdisciplinary team of climbers, archeologists, and and scientists were exploring the cave in search of human remains. The study of the remains and what was found with them would ultimately lead to a more comprehensive understanding of a forgotten leg of the Silk Road and a small piece of the bigger story of human migration and trade. It's shoulder season…when the world seems to quiet down and gather its energy and harvest it for the months ahead. That smell of autumn kind of hangs in pockets and springs on you more and more frequently. When I partnered with @budweiser to shoot some images from my life, days, and time at home, I didn’t really know what I was going to shoot. I got anxious about it…because I want things to be meaningful. Finally, I just decided to go for a walk with a friend. I don’t know why I have to keep re-learning this, but often its the simplest things, not the most grand, that are the most endearing. The smell of the fall, the crunch of the leaves, the wet kiss of a dog, a beer and a walk…we know these things. We love them. Maybe its nostalgia or maybe its just the quietness. Either way, it’s those little moments that matter the most. @dennaepearl gets some autumn love from Gabby on a trail to nowhere. #thisbudsforyou
